Do you want to play in a school band (skolekorps)?
Våland skolekorps wants YOU to join!
We can offer:
- Weekly band rehearsals Wednesdays (hours vary depending on age and level)
- An instrument (flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, French horn, euphonium, tuba, percussion)
- Weekly individual lessons on instrument
- A good social environment where you can make new friends and enjoy playing music with others
What is a skolekorps?
You can call a skolekorps a school band with kids playing both wind and brass instruments in addition to percussion. Usually connected to one or more schools.
Who is Våland skolekorps?
- Våland is recruiting mainly from Våland district (Våland skole) in Stavanger.
- 62 members
- Premiered as one of the best janitsjar bands over the last years in competitions
- Members from age of 8 to 19 years
What can you experience as a member of Våland skolekorps?
- Trips both in Norway and abroad where we have a good time and play great music
- Learn to play an instrument and play with others at concerts, competitions
- Social events
Recruit band
This year, Våland skolekorps offers the opportunity to join what we call the recruit band. The recruit band is for those who are born in 2011 and older who want to learn to play an instrument and to play with others in a school band. The recruit band has its rehearsals at the Music Room at Våland school on Wednesdays from 16:00 to 17:00. The recruits also get time for weekly individual lessons (30 min).
Start-up date will be on Wednesday 16th of February (and beyond). The goal is that the recruits during approx. half a year should have learned to play their instrument so well that they can start playing with the main band, Våland skolekorps. The main band consists of musicians from 6th grade and all the way up to 3rd in high school (age 19).
If you want to start in the band, but are in 2nd to 5th grade, there is a regular admission of new recruits after Easter. For more information check the website of Våland School,https://www.minskole.no/vaaland
